Five weeks after being sued by creditors in a New York court, Buenos Aires Province says it is ready to return to the negotiating table.
Argentina s most-populous province, which has been in default for almost a year, said Monday it would invite its main creditors to a round of consultations to identify final improvements in its debt restructuring offer, and that after those talks it will announce a modified offer in the next few weeks, according to a statement posted on the regional government s website.
The return to the negotiating table comes after a group of creditors filed a lawsuit against the province in the in New York courts back in March, asking for more than US$366 million in unpaid principal and interest. Parents and schools have been at war over fees since the first wave of the pandemic. On one hand parents believe that they are eligible for a reduction in fees considering that schools have had to be online this year. Schools on the other hand claim that the pandemic has only boosted the list of defaulters and that even though schools have been online this year, it has come with added costs over their already existing fixed costs, for which they have received no relief whatsoever.
NEW DELHI: The finance ministry on Saturday extended the deadline for making payment under the direct tax dispute settlement scheme Vivad Se Vishwas as well as some other dates to June 30 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A statement from the ministry said the extension has been done due to the representations received from various stakeholders and consultants that except time barring dates which were extended to April 30 should be further extended due to disruptions caused by the second surge of Covid-19 cases.
“It has also been decided that time for payment of amount payable under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020, without an additional amount, shall be extended to 30th June, 2021,” the finance ministry statement said.

Dr Masroor takes additional charge of Gomal University VC

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Vice-chancellor Agricultural University Dr Masroor Ilahi Babar took over the additional charge of the VC Gomal University here on Friday, according to an official statement.
Dr Babar has been assigned the charge after Governor Khyber Pakhtun-khwa and the Chancellor of KP’s public sector universities Shah Farman sent Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan (outgoing VC) on forced leave.
The action is stated to be a consequent action after the former VC (Prof Iftikhar Ahmad Khan) raised objection to a decision of the provincial cabinet with regard to up-gradation of agriculture faculty of Gomal University to a full-fledged Agriculture University.
